Shading Systems in a Residence in Kythira
In a unique private residence in Kythira, we completed the construction and installation of wooden pergolas, fully harmonized with the traditional and minimalist Cycladic architecture of the island. The objective was to create extensive shading areas that offer effective protection from the intense summer sun while maintaining unobstructed contact with the wild, natural landscape and the sea.
The pergolas were designed in clean, linear forms, serving as the natural horizontal extension of the building toward the view front. The selection of natural wood was driven by the need for long-term durability against the unique island weather conditions, enhancing the project's sustainability. The final result integrates organically into the environment, creating a welcoming cool sanctuary that elevates the quality of life in the residence's outdoor spaces.
